Petitions

Welsh Canoeing Association

Open since 10/04/08

The Petitioners are to urging the Welsh Assembly Government to ‘consider and implement a Bill to benefit Wales that would enshrine access rights and responsibilities for the public to and along natural resources in the same way that the Scottish Land Reform Act encourages co-operative use of the outdoors for healthy, low impact recreation. This bill must provide and permit access to and along non-tidal water in the face of the massive lack of legal clarity and restrictions that exist at present, which act as a barrier to sport and recreation and the promotion of Wales as a place to visit for Adventure Tourism.’ For more information, click here.

Current status: Information has been received from the Sustainability Committee regarding their inquiry into inland waters in Wales. It was decided that nothing further could be done, so the petition has been formally closed.

Help stop the alarming loss of wildlife and habitats

Open since 04/11/09

The petitioners care deeply about wildlife and the natural world we are creating for our children and future generations. The target to halt the loss of biodiversity by 2010 will be missed - we are still losing our wildlife. We believe that the Welsh Assembly Government must act now to stop biodiversity loss and take proactive measures to restore important habitats and priority species.

They call on the National Assembly for Wales to conduct a full inquiry to find out why the target will be missed and make clear recommendations to the Welsh Assembly Government on what actions are need to urgently restore our lost biodiversity. For more information, click here.

Current status: The response of the Sustainable Committee will be sent on to the petitioners.

Equines should not be utilised underground

Open since 01/06/10

The petitioners call upon the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to include in the Code of Practice for the Welfare of Equines that equines should not be utilised underground. For more information, click here.

Current status: A letter from the Minister for Rural Affairs will be sent on to the petitioners to seek their view. The petition will be referred to the Cross Party Group on the Horse.

Transportation of Wind Turbines in Mid Wales

Open since 14/12/09

The petitioners call upon the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Government to issue guidance to Local Planning Authorities to ensure that communities are properly consulted on wind farm developments, that impact on road infrastructure is properly assessed and that the broader effects of traffic disruption on sectors such as tourism are properly considered before any development is approved to take place. They believe the only way this can be properly concluded is by way of a public inquiry. For more information, click here.

Current status: A response from the First Minister will be sent on to the petitioners.
