The All Wales Convention
The All Wales Convention was set up by the Welsh Assembly Government to lead a debate across Wales about the law making powers of the National Assembly for Wales, assessing the level of public support for full law making powers and reporting to the Welsh Assembly Government on its findings.
The Convention ran a series of consultation events across Wales as well as taking written and oral evidence and commissioning research. They assessed how well people understand the current devolution settlement; what people think about the possibility of Wales having increased law-making powers; the issues that organisations currently trying to campaign for legislation in Wales might have; and a variety of other topics relevant to the possible devolution of further powers such as capacity and resources.
WCVA and a number of other third sector organisations submitted evidence to the Convention. Click here to see WCVA's submission to the All Wales Convention. We also produced a briefing paper on the All Wales Convention report highlighting the main recommendations, issues for the third sector and the next steps. The paper can be found here.
The Convention presented its report to the First Minister and Deputy First Minister on 18 November 2009. To read the full or executive summary report, click here.
