Aims
To give participants a more detailed understanding of the role of the National Assembly for Wales the opportunities that exist to influence decision-making using NAfW structures, staff and processes.

Content
This course focuses in more detail on how the National Assembly for Wales works – in particular looking at processes for creating or amending Welsh legislation, the role of scrutiny, the work of the committees and how to find out what is happening at the Assembly. There will be an emphasis on identifying and explaining effective routes for influencing politicians, policy and legislation development, including the private members ballot and the petitions system, as well as looking at the roles of key staff such as committee clerks and finding out more about where to look for information.

By attending this course you will be able to ….

• Understand how the National Assembly for Wales functions
• Understand the different ways to influence policy and legislation development at NAfW
• Improve your knowledge of how to keep abreast of new developments

Who is this course for?
This course will benefit those people who already have a fairly good understanding of the Welsh political landscape and/or have been on our Introduction to Welsh Politics and the basics of campaigning course. If you don’t understand how Welsh politics works, then please make sure you have attended one of our Introduction to Welsh Politics courses before booking a place on this course.
